KickAssAnime channel rules. The punishment associated with each rule will be decided based on the operator's judgement.

  • 1. The Golden Rule: Operators always have the final say on ANYTHING. They are above the rules.
    • 1.1. Half-operators are half-above the rules. Meaning they can tell you what to do, and still get bitched for not observing the rules.
  • 2. Concerning general behaviour:
    • 2.1. Speak English.
      • 2.1.1. "leet" and "AOLspeak" are not acceptable variations - this includes writing as in "how r u 2day?".
      • 2.1.2. Given the nature of the channel, Japanese is tolerated, as long as you don't talk exclusively on it. Saying a line or two in a foreign language won't get you banned, but don't cross the line.
      • 2.1.3. Your grammar and spelling do not have to be perfect (most of the channel isn't even a native speaker of English), but you shouldn't go out of your way to make it worse.
    • 2.2. Behave. If you are considered obnoxious or too much of a troll, you will be removed from the channel.
    • 2.3. Do not be an idiot. We have low tolerance for people who display low intellect.
  • 3. Concerning the topics discussed:
    • 3.1. This is a free-topic channel; it is not limited to just anime talk. Feel free to talk about anything, as long as others are interested in chatting about it.
    • 3.2. Regarding work-safety:
      • 3.2.1. The conversation should always be considered NSFW* - there is no censorship or restriction, so expect it to be unsafe.
      • 3.2.2. Links to images should ALWAYS be flagged as NSFW* if they are unsafe. This is an absolute requirement - no exceptions shall be tolerated. Your head shall be removed for not observing this rule.
      • 3.2.3. "NSFW" does not imply just work, so do not assume that people SHOULDN'T be at work because it's, say, a Sunday. *ALWAYS* tag.
      • 3.2.4. Do not lie about the safety of a link, that is, don't say that a link is safe if it actually is NSFW, or vice-versa. The punishment for doing so is a kickban. If you are unsure, just say so.
      • 3.2.5. Do not say "safe" in a sarcastic way when it really isn't - sarcasm doesn't always work well over IRC.
    • 3.3. Concerning spoilers:
      • 3.3.1. ALL spoilers must be blacked out - that is, must be in colour 1,1 (black text over black background) - in mIRC, hit ctrl+k, type 1,1, type the spoiler, then ctrl+k again.
      • 3.3.2. You must clearly say that it's a spoiler.
      • 3.3.3. You must clearly say WHAT EXACTLY it spoils. For example, "EVANGELION ENDING SPOILER:" or "HIGURASHI KAI EPISODE 16 SPOILER:". The declaration must be in the same line as the spoiler (to avoid spoiling people who might join between the two lines).
      • 3.3.4. Certain meme spoilers are accepted (Spike dies, Snape kills Dumbledore, Grimlock farted, Oblisk sucks dick, etc).
      • 3.3.5. It's NOT acceptable to spoil a show just because it's old.
      • 3.3.6. Just because an event happens early in a show, it doesn't mean that it's not a spoiler - for example, the end of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien episode 2.
      • 3.3.7. Punishment will depend on how much you piss people off with your spoiler, but might range from a warning to a permanent kickban.
    • 3.4. If it came out from below your waist, we don't want to hear about it.
      • 3.4.1. Exception to the above rule: you can talk about your children.
  • 4. Concerning IRC-specific behaviour:
    • 4.1. Do not private message (PM) any of the operators, that is, anyone whose nick begin with ~, &, @ or %, unless you know the person.
    • 4.2. If you have any questions, just ask them in the channel.
    • 4.3. If you want to be unbanned, PM the operator who banned you. *NEVER* PM another operator about it, as this will get your ban extended.
    • 4.4. File servers ("fservs") must be set to silent, that is, they must never spam the channel with automatic messages.
    • 4.5. Please disable all "Welcome Back" ("WB") messages. We have the Rash (http://quotes.kickassanime.org) page for such things.
  • 5. Concerning triggers and public commands:
    • 5.1. Do not "xdcc list" the channel.
    • 5.2. Do not "xdcc list" random users. All XDCC bots, if any, are marked by having their nicks begin with "XDCC". XDCC listing an operator will usually result in a kickban.
    • 5.3. Do not send "ctcp" or "notice" messages to the whole channel. This will usually be dealt with a kickban.
    • 5.4. @find is allowed, but in moderation. That is, don't use it several times in a row. If you use it 3 or more times, it might be better to wait for a few minutes before you do it again.
    • 5.5.  !voiceme is for people running fservs. Do not use it if you aren't.
  • NSFW = "Not Safe For Work" (the converse is SFW, "Safe For Work", but usually just said as "safe"). For pictures, the definition of "NSFW" here is very broad (in particular, different from 4chan's) - it doesn't have to show actual nudity, for example - a sexually provocative image is NSFW even if there is no actual nudity. This includes panty shots, some types of bikini pictures (e.g. focused on a cleavage), etc. NSFW also extends for gore and other "shock" images. Basically, anything that you might feel embarassed about looking in a public place qualifies. And if you have no sense of shame, that's your own problem - the operator's judgement is, as usual, final in the matter.
